Hooray for bank holidays and all that extra making time. The august bank holiday was a real treat because I managed to find time to continue celebrations for my birthday (woop), sort another whole section of my flat out and make time for some all important sewing.
This month for Minerva Crafts I tackled the New Look Ladies Easy Skirt sewing pattern for the second time -this time in my all favourite denim. Second time’s the charm and it was a much smoother sew and a better final fit so I’m pretty delighted. As it’s quite a plain design I decided to add two patch pockets at the front as well as keeping all of those lovely denimy raw edges on show.
By this point the sewing bug had truly bitten me so I decided to use my gorgeous william morris fabric from Minerva crafts to adapt a DIY from A Beautiful Mess to make a summery top to go with my skirt! This pattern is really simple but I felt like the final effect was a little baggy on me so I added a tie at the waist to cinch the sides in – I’m really pleased with how it came out!
