I started a few longer term projects at the start of Jan. I think I was pining for duvet days and so the cosiness of knitting and embroidery really appealed to me! I had also received some lovely zpaghetti yarn from Minerva crafts for an upcoming craft project and I had loads left so I wanted to try a larger project.
I’m currently using some gorgeous chunky wool I bought at The Knitting and Stitching show in yellow and grey. I’m stitching a simple cowl in moss stitch using my new circular knitting needles! (More on those clever little chaps later). I think I’m about half way through and the chunky wool is helping me make really satisfyingly speedy progress. I want to finish this project as quickly as possible so I can get lots of use out of the cowl while it’s still so chilly out – although with a possible trip to Copenhagen in march on the cards I’m sure I’ll get lots of use from it then!
This project is making the most of my zpaghetti yarn in black and grey. I wanted to work on something that would be useful and would teach me some new skills so I selected a pattern for a spiral stripe basket from Modern Crochet by Molla Mills. I’m going to have to do another post on this book at some point as it’s full of brilliant tips and ideas for how crochet can be used in a really cool way – no doilies here! The pattern I chose involves changing colours which is brand new to me but luckily the chunky spaghetti yarn hides my mistakes quite well 🙂
I’m about half way through this project too at the moment. I’m definitely starting to slow down as life gets busier but I’m hoping to finish this in the next week or so.
What are you working on?
