As this post is published I’m most likely going to be standing elbows deep in a pile of embroidery hoops, cutting up felt squares and pressing fabrics, while packing beads into boxes and crossing my fingers that my last count of jewellery findings was correct. That’s because I’m on to THE HANDMADE FAIR TOMORROW!! I’ll be running workshops making decorative embroidery hoop art and letter bead necklaces in the VIP lounge, whilst trying to soak up as many of the crafting workshops, talks and stores as is humanly possible. It will be an absolute overdose of craft and I can’t wait!!
So as you can imagine most of my recent crafty doings have been focused around prepping for the fair BUT I do have a few fun updates for you:
I’ve got a few tutorials of mine up on the AskHerFriends crafting portal – try your hand at my multi-strand beaded bracelets – which I actually made as part of my handmade Bridesmaids giftbags!, and also add some fun to your gift boxes with washi tape.
I’ve got some new workshops on sale for October and November – exciting times! Come and craft with me – you can find all the details on my events page! Remember – to be first in line with my latest events keep an eye on the Crafternoon Cabaret Club facebook page.
I got a little bit carried away making confetti filled balloons for my birthday…
I also made these pretty felt flowers but I can’t decide what to do with them – ideas on a postcard people!
My big news of the moment is that I’ve finally finally learnt to cable knit! One of my new year’s resolutions was to knit something I could wear that ideally wasn’t just a rectangle shape. I don’t think I’m going to quite manage that this year as I’m currently knitting a scarf BUT I’m letting myself off the hook because the scarf is beautifully textured with cable knit and the two false starts for this project are now being turned into wristwarmers/fingerless gloves. They’re really cosy – which is great as WINTER IS LITERALLY COMING.
Yes it’s freezing outside – when did that happen? and why so quickly cruel world? But also I’ve started watching Game of Thrones (finally – a million years after everyone else discovered this awesome series) so the cold grey backdrop London is currently providing is pretty good for my inner monologue declaring war against commuters on the Victoria line.
I’m also really excited because I’m about to start an evening course at London Jewellery School. 5 blissful wednesday evenings learning beading techniques and crafting beautiful jewellery pieces. It always feels like a luxury to actually be taught a new technique as I do so much self-led making (with the help of blogs and youtube for the tricky bits). I’m really looking forward to meeting some other DIY jewellery enthusaists and i can’t wait to share some of my makes on here.
That’s all from me for now – what have you been making recently? And if you’re at The Handmade Fair this weekend come and say Hi!
