Crafternoon How-To: Washi Tape Boxes

I’m really trying to get to grips with organising my craft hoard better this year so I have lots of different types of storage around the house including a ton of smaller boxes.  I love having boxes for jewellery, hair grips, and sewing supplies so when I spotted this simple DIY on Homey Oh My using washi tape to prettify those boxes and add pattern and colour I couldn’t resist!

You will need
– Boxes – big or small, plain or patterned – anything goes here
– Washi tape in bright colours or bold patterns –Hobbycraft have a fab range
– Scissors

I chose two boxes that needed a bit of craft TLC and some bold washi tape from my collection (honestly once you start looking at all the options before you know it you’ll have bought 100 different designs!).  I started on both boxes with the flat top, adding strips of tape and making sure I matched up the patterns. The monochrome tape on the black box worked a treat so I decided to use two layers of blue tape on the purple box to make sure the colour popped.

Once I was happy I trimmed the loose tape edges and pressed them down around the edge of the lid.

I then moved onto the sides: two layers of blue for my purple box and one layer of contrasting monochrome tape for the black box.

Im so happy with the final result!

Let me know if you give this a go and what designs you go for.

Happy Crafting!
