The Way of the Pompom – DIY wall Hanging

After making a pile of pompoms big enough to hide a small puppy in it was time to put them to use so I decided to create an easy DIY wall hanging.

Hope you like it!

You will need:

  • POMPOMS (check the how to for beautiful patterned poms here)
  • More wool
  • Darning needle
  • A branch to make your wall hanging base!  I got mine from the park – if you do the same make sure you clean it up before using.
  • Scissors

So many pompoms…

Start by laying out your pompoms in the design you want.  I went for four long strands that alternated between plain and patterned, pink and grey.

I then cut four long lengths of grey wool- 120cm each and attached each pompom by threading the wool through its centre (with the darning needle!!) and knotting with the pompom tails I left in place when I made them.  If you got snip happy not to worry – knot your wool to the little loop holding your pompom together in the centre.

Finish up by knotting your garlands to the stick to make your beautiful wall hanging and then get it on display pronto!

Happy Crafternoon!
