Crafternoon How-To: Polka Dot Glitter Jar

My budget doesn’t quite stretch to gold rings so I’m making do with glitter to supply my Christmas sparkle.  Here’s an easy way to decorate jars that can then become ornaments, lanterns or even gift boxes.

You will need:

  • Jam jar
  • Glitter
  • Glue
  • Paper (to catch falling glitter – which will go everywhere)

Step One:

First up – choose your pattern and design.  I went for polka dots.  Next use your glue to create a dot on your jar then pour your glitter over it.  I foudn it helped to gently press the glitter in place and then tap your jar to shake off the excess.  Repeat all the way round and allow to dry.  You’ll then need to brush off loose glitter around your design (because glitter clings to everything!) and may need to top up a few dots.  Once you’re finished it should look something like this;

Step Two: Pack

Your jar is complete so it’s now time to decide how to use it.  You could use it as storage for make up, or as a great new take on a gift bag, or even as a lantern.
