Crafternoon How-To: Drinks Charms #1 Easy Beads

Have you ever suffered the heartache that is mislaying some beautiful beverage barely touched? Ever been positively sure that the mojito being glugged in front of you by that girl with the annoying laugh was yours? Ever simply wanted to subtly enjoy a double while everyone else sips singles? We feel your pain so we’ve put our crafty minds together and come up with a solution! This week at Crafternoon Cabaret Club we’re making not one, not two, but three types of Drinks Charms!

To give you a taster here is the first, and easiest version.  You could make a set of four in 20 minutes flat… and most of that will be consumed by bead choosing!

You will need:

  • Craft wire – 22 gauge worked well for me and you need 15cm per charm… or you can make it even longer
  • beads
  • Scissors/pliers
  • Tape measure/ruler

Step One: Cut and Twist

Cut a 15cm length of your wire.  Now wrap one end around the tip of your scissors or pliers twice to make a spiral; this will keep your beads securely on your charm.

Step Two: BEADS

Choose your beads and thread them onto the wire – make sure you leave about 1.5/2cm of wire free at the end.

Step Three: Loop to secure

Wrap the spare wire around the end of your scissors/pliers as you did at the beginning to secure your beads.

Step Four: Spiral!

Wrap your finished charm around your finger to create a spread out spiral.

And you’re done!  Loop the spiral around the base of your wine glass and away you go
